Fairy Tale Friday

The girls at Teddy Bo Towers are not the most high tech bunch. In fact they run an old computer that's still got Windows 95 on it. It can just run basic paint packages, and laughed when they tried to install Photoshop.
And finally, the blue screen of death arrived and didn't disappear when they rebooted it, so the girls decided to call in an expert. Jonathon arrived in his little van full of repair equipment. He swaggered into the studio and had a look. He did the basics, reboot and if that doesn't work, reboot again. When that didn't work, he opened his case and pulled out his tools. He pulled out a small box with wires and two paddles, turned to the girls who were crowding around him (someone touched his bum!) and said 'Clear', rubbed the panels together and ran an electric charge through the computer. The screen flickered for a second then returned to that blue screen. "Clear", the second and then third attempts didn't work either. He put the unit away and pulled out a voice recorder "Time of death, 3:30 PM Tuesday 27th November 2012", he then tucked his recorder back in the case, closed it up and left, the girls distraught, not just because the computer was now deceased, but he never eve chatted any of them up. Not like the local builder did. Jonathon wasn't getting a Christmas card this year!
"Oh well", said Gayle, "Time to get a replacement. Girls to the van"
They bumped up and down over the roads towards Shady Computer Depot to look at what was on offer. A large showroom full of electronic gadgets, and single, geeky, spotty men who were not picky. The girls had a ball. "What's this thing","it's a mouse" was the reply. You could see half a dozen young men getting more and more exasperated trying to explain technology as these older ladies were moving closer and closer. Only Dan who was being pursued by Gina seemed happy enough, but he was the assistant manager, and had experience of this before.
Then a scream came from an older man who had just emerged from the office. It was Mr Burns, the man who sold them the computer 15 years ago. The pain of that time was still as strong today as it was all those years ago, and he collapsed onto the floor.
An ambulance arrived to take him away (he made a full recovery, though jumps at any loud noise), and Colette managed to get the new computer ordered. Dan even came over to the towers to install it. Maybe there may finally be some romance in Teddy Bo Towers.
The computer works fine, though no one's quite sure how to work it.  But thank goodness the computer's linked up as the girls were able to make some fantastic

Wordy Wednesday

Morning all!
This week's Wordy Wednesday is all about BIRTHDAYS seeing as it was my birthday last week...

A birthday is a day when a person celebrates the anniversary of his or her birth. Birthdays are celebrated in numerous cultures, often with a gift, party, or rite of passage.
In many portions of the world an individual's birthday is celebrated by a party where a specially made cake, usually decorated with lettering and the person's age, is presented. The cake is traditionally studded with the same number of lit candles as the age of the individual, or a number candle representing their age. The celebrated individual usually will make a silent wish and attempt to blow out the candles in one breath; if successful, a tradition holds that the wish will be granted. In many cultures, the wish must be kept secret or it won't "come true". Presents are bestowed on the individual by the guests appropriate to her/his age. Other birthday activities may include entertainment (usually by a hired professional, i.e. a clown, magician, or musician), and a special toast or speech by the birthday celebrant. The last stanza of Patty Hill's and Mildred Hill's famous song, "Good Morning to You" (unofficially titled "Happy Birthday to You") is typically sung by the guests at some point in the proceedings.
A number of possible superstitious origins for customs associated with birthday celebrations have been suggested. One source states that the tradition of birthday parties started in Europe. It was feared that evil spirits were particularly attracted to people on the anniversary of their birth and to protect them, they would be visited by friends and family, who would bring good thoughts and wishes.

There are three hundred and sixty-four days when you might get un-birthday presents, and only one for birthday presents, you know.
Lewis Carroll

You know you're getting old when the candles cost more than the cake.
Bob Hope

To me - old age is always ten years older than I am.
John Burroughs

We have to be able to grow up. Our wrinkles are our medals of the passage of life. They are what we have been through and who we want to be.
Lauren Hutton

With mirth and laughter let old wrinkles come.
William Shakespeare

Birthdays are good for you. Statistics show that the people who have the most live the longest.

Teddy Bo Tuesday

A very good morning to you today...I hope that this Teddy Bo Tuesday finds you well!??!
Winter is definitely making it's presence felt here in Scotland.....if it's not the rain, it's the wind, or the ice....not long now until our first proper fall of snow.  We've been very fortunate though as the two girls we had as guest designers have agreed to stay on with us so Teddy Bo Towers is filling up again nicely.
SO..what's new in the store this week!?!?!
Well...not only have we got new graphics but Gayle has also been busy with some other crafting materials and has made some polymer Bos and Beas...they are now available to order in the store and you can choose from over 500+ designs, you just nominate what style you want and in what colours and Gayle will hand make your bear from scratch...they are NOT made from molds, Gayle makes the armature and then builds the bear up round this 'skeleton'.  She's also putting the finishing touches to some plush collectable versions of Bo...with Bea to follow soon.......hopefully they will be available to view in the next couple of weeks.

Fairy Tale Friday

Monday 19th November was World Toilet Day (, and Maritha who spends all her life singng Abba songs and drinking vegetable forms of alcohol decided to join forces with Debbie and clean the toilets...they decided that the girls were needing to understand how lucky they were to have a safe, clean loo to use every day.

They picked out planks of wood, a hammer and nails, and blocked the only door into the toilet to prevent the girls getting entry (obviously they did the toilet herself first!).

The girls arrived for their morning rituals, showers and stuff, only to find a big sign on the toilet door saying "Toilet closed until further notice".

Now the girls could have survived for a wee while, but it had been an evening of booze and chasing men about the pub. There were half a dozen women standing outside the toilet jumping up and down from one leg to another. "What'll we do?" said Gayle, rocking back and forth.

Colette replied "You'll need to hold it in, or go down to the village green to the public toilets".

And so the girls in their pyjamas, housecoats and slippers paraded out of the house and down the street to the toilet.

They were making good time, and Claire could have made it if they hadn't passed the Jenkins' house just as the garden sprinklers set off. The urge became too much and she raced into the nearest bushes. A contented "aaaahhhhh" was heard by the girls.

"Disgusting" said Gayle. "Come on girls" and they all sped off to the public loo.

Some of the girls started to run in the hope it would take their minds of of the urge. Gayle walked behind determined to remain in control of her bladder. However, everywhere she looked she saw fountains and dripping taps, then it started to rain, and Gayle was behind a tree.

The girls eventually got to the public toilet, only to find it locked. The park hadn't been opened up yet. No matter how much shouting and screaming the girls did, no one came to open the toilet. The girls were all about to burst.

Then on Wednesday, the local newspaper, the Village Chronicle, had an article stating that all the flowers in the rose garden had wilted and died in the past couple of days. It wouldn't take Sherlock Holmes to work out why.

Once the toilets were cleaned the girls were able to get back to their card making (thank goodness!!)
